Hey everyone,

Super excited to share that I won a satellite yesterday and I'm heading to a live tournament at King’s Resort! 🥳

The catch? It’s going to be my first ever live event. I'm a long-time online grinder, but a complete newbie when it comes to the live felt.

Looking for your best advice:

What's the one piece of advice you wish you'd known before your first big tournament?

My main goal is to have a great time and soak in the experience (and it'd be awesome to meet any of you there too!). Honestly, any tip, no matter how small, would be a massive help.

Thanks for any help you can offer!

My tips
Stay focused on actions at the table
Put your phone away except during breaks
Have your blinds & antes ready to go as soon as you can, stack your chips after placing your blinds & ante
Pay the ante with exact change, It's OK to not post exact change for your blinds
Be willing to make change if/when the dealer asks you to
Be very conscious of waiting until it's your turn to act
Verbalize your bets then push your bet forward
Do not make any forward motions until you have verbalized your action
If you have a handful of chips and you don't verbalize your action and you move that hand forward, expect all of the chips in your hand to be committed
Take a photo of your chip stack before you leave the table when on break

A happy satellite. Have a good time playing the live game. Look at the actions of professionals at the tables, for example, Phill Ivy. He doesn't talk or show emotion. Let your opponents think that you are a robot.
