I played last summer in Barcelona for the 888 poker tournament and was too obsessed with understanding the game and therefore nervous when players talked a bit out of context but still mentioning poker habits etc, is that a good vibe because to me it looked z bit more stressful than online poker. Please share your thoughts here!

I have always found live poker much more fun than online. I am a social person...it is easier for me to talk directly to another player than to type away in the chat. Also, if I am playing live, I am usually on vacation, so I'm already in a mellow mood. But I do remember my first live play at a casino...it was a one table tournament, and I was extremely nervous. I remember thinking that I didn't want to be the first player eliminated. I played very tight until two players went out in the same hand, so I was 8th out of 8 instead of last out of 10. Shortly thereafter, I got pocket 7s, went all-in and they held up. I went from last to third...ended up winning $500 first place. That certainly calmed my nerves. Now, I do not get nervous at all, and neither will you the next time you play...just like having first day jitters at school when you were a kid. You will get over that feeling, and you will enjoy playing.

For me, poker is a unique experience. One of the best things about this game is the journey you go through to build your career.

I totally agree with you — live poker can feel way more intense and stressful than online, especially when you’re really focused on understanding every detail of the game. When players at the table start chatting or throwing in subtle comments about habits or reads, it can definitely add pressure, especially if you’re still building confidence.

Online, it’s easier to stay in your zone, take notes, and breathe without worrying about table presence or live dynamics. But in live events, the social and psychological elements are very real. For some, that’s exciting — for others, it adds a layer of stress. Personally, I find the vibe fascinating, but yes, more mentally demanding than online play.

I’ve never played live poker, and honestly, I’m not sure I could just sit down and play confidently the first time.
I’d probably be a bit lost — counting chips, knowing whose turn it is, all that stuff. 😅
Online it’s all automatic, but live... it’s a whole different experience.
