The electricity in the air got everybody excited.  Seeing famous pro players (including one at my table) was so amazing.  It was the experience of a lifetime.
My point is this.  Take any occasion you can to feel what real poker excitement is all about.  Even if the buy-in is significant...I mean $400 was a lot to me (a retired federal civil servant from Canada).  Of course, you should not endanger your ability to pay your bills and look after your responsibilities, but if this is part of your poker budget or entertainment dollars set aside, it may well be worth going into that special tournament.  My experience, even though I went to Vegas without my wife, and it probably cost a couple thousand dollars (US), was totally worth it.  Whatever you decide, good luck.
