Caesars Va has opened in Danville in a temporary tent until the real building is constructed.
Was wondering what poker games are available now and if there are any daily tournaments?

It's a 2hr 15min drive for me and I would like to know about the poker games.
I don't care for the slot machines.
They really opened a casino in a tent. It could happen but would they really? So, is this true or a joke?

Yes they did! I don't want to spend the time to go if there aren't any poker games. Would love to know if they have poker now, how many tables...what games available etc....
The tent is beside the site where they are building the brick and mortar casino in Danville Virginia.

sounds a little far-fetched but if true I guarantee you there will be no poker, they don't make enough on poker
to put tables in a tent. you can bet on it being packed with slot machines.
how did you hear this much without more details?
a casino in a tent would be Ludacris, with no phones, and bad lighting. terrible security, dirt floors, etc.
just my opinion sir I really haven't a clue, let us know if you go or hear more. ;)

I found this article which explains the temporary facility for Caesars Virginia.

The pavilion tent features 740 slot machines, 25 live dealer table games, and 28 electronic table games. Sports betting is also available through eight self-service Caesars Sportsbook kiosks.

Interesting.

Thanks, this helps. Maybe someone will make a visit and post what it's all about. I know that with 25 tables the games that they are offering will be limited.
Wonder if it's all Texas Holdem or if there might be some Omaha and Stud tables.
Inquiring minds want to know.

down
Their "tent" is a little more upgraded than that Jay. I think they are using the term "pavilion tent" to describe a semi-permanent structure that will be taken down after the real site is developed. They have that ugly carpet and bathrooms too.

connect you to the tent

I know your first thought was that Gus has been smoking the good stuff.
The "tent" is 40.000 sq ft.
Seems like a good place to show off those CardsChat t-shirts that Debi sent me.

Have not found out a lot about the poker games, but did find some reviews that say it is smoker friendly.
The people were talking about full ash trays sitting on slot machines and the lingering smell of smoke in the air.

yes, that's true :p
it is a very nice tent but it still doesn't sound like a good idea to me.
you could do a change halfway thru your visit. they are probably a little freaked out
over pictures inside but pics or it didn't happen.

sounds like you may not even have to lite up to get your nicotine on. ;)

I can't believe that Virginia is going to have a cardroom open, from what I remember they had very strict gaming laws in the past

Still have not found any info about the poker games going on here at Danville.
If anyone has been and could give a review on games playing, do they have daily tournaments?, limits of games..........please post
I do not want to spend over two hours driving each way to go into The Great Unknown.

Looks like no poker. Cherokee still the best option. Kings mountain is supposed to have poker at some point.

My guess is that there aren't poker tables, or they would have been mentioned.

Oh well. I was hoping for a day trip deal. I live close to the coast in NC and Cherokee is more involved than that.

You could likely call the venue to find out more about what is available before you make the trip to Danville.

Wow, it's luxurious, that's not a common tent, and it doesn't have a dirt floor, as a colleague says in another comment. It looks very good, it looks more like a Warehouse, but apparently it has many amenities, it must even have a restaurant, toilets and everything you need to have a good time playing.

Very nice I think...

They don't have Hold 'em yet. I called and asked about poker, and he said they had some various games going, like three-card poker, but no NLHE or Omaha or anything like that.

However, there is a relatively new poker room in Portsmouth, Va. The Rivers Casino Portsmouth opened in January or February of this year. I went up last week and played for five hours. I bought in for $200 and cashed out for $599, although $200 of my cashout was me winning the random hot seat drawing. The poker room was pretty busy. When I left around 3 p.m, there were 13 tables rolling. Most were $1/$3, but there were a couple of $2/$5 and one $2/$2 Big O.
