The previous record was from the Jack Ury, but he passed away. At age 97, he was the oldest participant ever to play in a world series of poker event.

He became one of the most adored players in the community. Ury sat down to play cards with opponents young enough to be his great-grandchildren. He endured 14-hour days, blind in one eye and limited in vision in the other. He was also completely deaf in one ear. But Ury loved the game and his passion was a magnet for the spotlight.

He remembered playing his first hand of poker at age 10.. Ury enlisted in the United States Navy following the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor and served in World War II.

He lived most of his life in his beloved hometown of Terre Haute where he spent many years working for the U.S. Postal Service. He retired in 1978. But retirement didn't slow down the strong-willed recreational poker player who would ultimately become one of the game's most celebrated senior citizens.

Wow that's so nice. That's why poker is a great game :)
Exactly. Poker is the only mainstream game (worth a damn) you can play your entire life, imo. Kudos old-timers.

Very cool, hopefully he has the endurance for a marathon event like that.

Just looking at his Hendon Mob page, looks like he plays poker practically every day anyway and is pretty good. I think he might the endurance.

Thats really cool he plays so much poker. It is what I hope to do when I get older myself. Juts seeing the games he gets to play each day has me wondering if that's a great spot to retire to actually be able to play daily's. Hope he can play in next years main event as well.

I have repeatedly convinced myself that years are not the limit. Yesterday I saw on the news that a 95-year-old man parachuted in my country. The conclusion is that it doesn't matter how old you are, you should do what you like, because soon you won't be able to do anything else. So let's enjoy life.
