For me, sticking to bankroll management has always been one of the toughest parts of poker. It’s easy to say “I’ll only play within my limits,” but when I’m running bad, I sometimes feel tempted to take a shot at higher stakes to win it back faster.

Over time I’ve realized that this mindset usually causes more problems than it solves. Staying disciplined with bankroll management isn’t exciting, but in the long run it feels like one of the most important habits to actually survive in poker.

Moving up "to win it back faster" is a classic sign of a gambling problem and the main reason, why people end up losing their entire bankroll. If you can not control this emotion, you should forget about playing poker for profit and either find another hobby or give yourself a budget, which is compatible with your overall financial situation. Like maybe you are allowed to deposit $50 every month, and if and when that money is gone, you are done playing for the rest of the month.
