Hey CardChat family! 👋

I wanted to start a little discussion today about something we often overlook when we talk about poker: the tools and programs we use to actually study and improve our game. 📚

Personally, I spend most of my time with ICMizer / Wizard. I use it mainly to analyze my satellite spots and push/fold situations. It really helps me understand when shoving with 12BB is the right move… and when it’s actually a disaster waiting to happen. 😅

I also like going through my own hand histories — breaking down every decision and asking myself:

  • [] Was this shove correct mathematically?
[] Did I miss a chance to exploit a weaker player?
  • Or did I just tilt myself into a bad call? 🤦

For me, using these tools feels like having a “poker coach” sitting right next to me — but one that never gets tired of repeating the same lessons again and again.

“Study is the fuel, experience is the fire. Together, they build a strong player.”

Question to you all:
👉 What programs, solvers, or trackers do you personally use to study?
👉 Do you think they made a huge difference in your winrate, or is raw table time still king?

I’d love to hear what works for you, and maybe I can try some new tools as well. Let’s share our secrets and get stronger together! 💪🔥

Good luck at the tables, friends! 🃏

Never used anything else while playing.

Used PokerTracker to analyze hands after sessions when I played "seriously" online between 2003 and 2013.

Now people are using technical assistance and charts while playing freerolls. Very sad development. But only natural when money can be won, no matter how little.

I have played against bots at VERY low levels on several sites. They probably experiment at the lowest stakes first, often.

If I can't spot an unbalanced player without the help of a HUD, I change tables or quit.

And LIVE poker is almost 100% about picking up tells and spotting players that are making HUGE mistakes that you don't need any extra assistance for.

I totally agree! I mix reviewing hand histories with running spots through a solver. I also poked around Gamblizard earlier. They quietly list a few lesser-known tools worth testing (no hype, just options). At the end of the day, consistency and reflection matter more than any flashy new App.
