I've been playing a lot of poker lately, using preflop tables and trying to make good long-term decisions.
But I realized that there are certain things that I still have a hard time improving, such as reading my hands and knowing when to do a difficult fold.

What is the hardest thing for you to improve in the game? And what did they do to overcome it?
I read them, hug from River!

For me, it's definitely the mental game.
I can study scales, review hands, and improve my technical skills fairly consistently... but controlling my emotions after a bad beat or a long downswing remains the hardest part.
Tilt, frustration, and impatience can creep in and ruin a good session, especially in tournaments where one mistake can cost hours of work.
I'm working on:
Taking short breaks after big pots
Practicing mindfulness and focus
I remind myself that poker is a long-term game, not a single hand or session.
Technical leaks are easier to fix with study, but emotional leaks require daily discipline.

Too often I put an opponent on the wrong cards post flop (as in opponent always has the goods) rather than sticking with opponents expected starting range and playing the odds on chances of opponent actually having hit that same flop. The math should be in your favour over the long haul if you can do so.

The most unpleasant thing is the consequences of excessive caution and excessive aggression... And only subsequent analytics, which gives such an unforgettable experience, gives real philosophical meaning)))

committing to putting in some volume.

Making a study plan, 'A - to - Z' and sticking with it (ie. following through with any courses/material/books I've acquired. (I have some EXCELLENT ones!)

Transitioning from Cash Game to MTT's (let go of playing Cash Games... and get into the Tournaments where the Fish and the Money is today in online poker!)

What 'was' the hardest part about learning poker...

With all the vast amount of poker information out there today, it's difficult to know where to get started and how to progress from there.

I'd recommend finding some courses and working one's way through them. ie. courses that are set up with natural progression.
