Hey, I am considering buying a book to read about poker to improve my play. I have read all the reviews in the articles section, but I am looking for more opinions. Which books have you guys read that you would highly recommend? I have been playing poker for about 6 months and I like to think that I do have some knowledge and I am not a total noob. I almost strictly play NL and Limit poker. Mostly NL tourneys and limit ring games. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

For tourneys, I recommend the 3-volume Harrington books. Start with the first and add the others as you go.

For Limit, I recommend the Limit section in Super/System 2, written by Jennifer Harman. Then, Sklansky's "Small Stake's Hold 'em" and also his "Hold 'em Poker for Advanced Players."

I'd also be sure to subscribe to "CardPlayer" magazine (I'm not affiliated). There is a lot of good articles and analysis each issue.

I hope this helps. I'm sure others will have suggestions, too.

Anything by Sklansky is generally good, I don't always think that his material flows very well but the content is always good.

All sklansky and harrington books are very good.

I read Helmuth and Cloutier's books but found them very weak as poker books. Not worth it imo.

one good book i would like to add is winning low-limit holdem by Lee Jones, its very good for limit holdem, expessialy if your playing low limits.

super sytems one and two are both nice reads, doyle is a very charasmatic person and writes in the type of doyle style that makes you laugh once in a while. If you like doyles storys you can read some very good ones in poker wisdom for champions
