i've started reading doyle's book a while ago. this being my first read of it, i didn't mind reading his personal narrative of his life experiences. i have now finished 5 card draw and i am now on 7 card stud. while i want to force myself to read the book from beginning to end, i'm itching to get to my main interest--NL holdem

for those of you who have read it, is there any particular benefit of reading it from beginning to end or since diffferent experts wrote the different sections anyway, should i feel free moving from D to B to C if i please?

should i treat doyle's book like a marathon or a hundred meter dash to nl holdem.lol.

also which is better to read first...theory of poker or the course in power poker.

...i consider myself more of an intermediate player than a begginner.

I intended to buy this book but changed my mind after seeing it discussed other forms of poker i looked elsewhere. I prefer No Limit Holdem and would not have taken in any of the other information.

Although it doesnt hurt to read about other formsof poker if your forcing yourself to read it i'd suggest going into the No Limit section first. Reading other forms of poker can affect your play in No Limit if you try to incorporate the wrong aspects.

I prefer the Harrington series personally

thanks for your response, tiltboy.

i agree. i found i've been rushing the other sections just so i can get to nl holdem. so i'm just going to read nl holdem right away. and read the other sections when i'm playing the games of the other sections for fun.

yes, i love Harrington's books too. they have helped my poker game immensely.

I dont see the harm in reading the holdem section first. I got super system and super system 2 and this is what ive read so far.
First i read limit holdem, the no limit holdem, then limit and no limit in ss2,
Then stud, then stud hi/low, the omaha then omaha hi/low.
I might read the 5 card draw section, but i hardly ever play it so theres no point. I plan to read the razz section, then 72 triple draw, then i will go back over all sections.
