Hi Clink,
  I couldn't give any advice on such a broad question, you sound like your so new to the game that you shouldn't really be playing real money tables just yet. You might want to narrow the question down a little, at the moment you don't even mention if your referring to real or play money. What do you call a good hand? Are you talking about pre-flop (good hand) or after the flop (good hand) they can be completely different. Are you talking abou ring games, multi-table tourneys or sit-n-go's?
  As far as what you've asked so far Hawkeye and RammerJammer have given the best advice to you but when you ask for advice on playing poker you really need to be a little more specific.
  Definitely read as much material as you can, there is a whole bunch of strategies and betting techniques right here in this forum, go back over some old threads, it's all here.
  Also you really want to find out what type of game your either good at or what you prefer to play as the strategies are very different for each type of game played.
