I'm posting this becasue I am a begginer who is just starting to figure out that he plays to much and will need to play tighter if he wants to win many tourneys (freeroll or otherwise). I'm doing OK in today's tourney so I thought I'd share some thoughts about my mindset.
If you've seen any of my post you may know that I'm a fan of the $500 freerolls on bodog and like to play them TAG (tight-aggressive). Todays freeroll (started at 9:40 EST) was filled with the typical craziness that goes on in any 4000+ player freeroll. I waited for a great hand post flop and trippled up. Then I went for walk with my dog while the donkeys bickered among themselves.
Came back to better than 1/2 my stack and watched for a bit until I felt comfortable about who I was going to trap. Waited 20 min for a decent hand and doubled up a few times.
There are currently 380 people left in the tourney and 63 pay. I have 7000 chips and the BB is 400. I'm not too scared from a blind perspective yet, so I'm waiting patiently for the next great hand.
I'm hoping I can cash this one. Even if I only win a few bucks....
