Do You Prefer Playing Against Loose or Tight Tables?

Every poker player has their own comfort zone when it comes to table dynamics. Some love playing against loose, action-heavy tables where chips are flying everywhere. Others prefer tight tables where patience and well-timed aggression pay off.

For me, loose tables can be fun but also dangerous — variance is huge, and you need to pick your spots carefully. On the other hand, tight tables sometimes feel “boring,” but it’s often easier to read ranges and apply pressure.

So I’m curious: if you had to choose, would you rather sit at a loose table full of gamblers, or at a tight table where every pot feels like a battle of patience? And why?

A tight passive player is a fish that will slowly lose money or make very little. It depends on the situation. Sometimes it's good to play freely and aggressively, and sometimes it's better to play more cautiously.A good loose aggressive player wins easily in the long run.

Some players love sitting at loose tables action everywhere, weaker ranges, and more chances to get paid off when you hit big. Others prefer tight tables less variance, more control, and easier to run well-timed bluffs.
Personally, I think both styles have pros and cons:
Loose tables = bigger pots, but higher swings.
Tight tables = more grindy, but easier to pick spots and steal blinds.

I enjoy and can adjust to be a winning player at either type of table so don't really have a preference. I do prefer when playing live to play with a decent group of people that can joke around, are respectful and can carry a decent conversation. I wish my local casino offered such an environment sadly it doesn't so I play a lot more online and in my buddies home games to get my poker fix.

Cheers!!!

Well, according to poker theory playing too many hands = loosing.
While I believe in some cases, when a LAG is better skilled than their opponents, LAG can still play a winning poker but in general/at average I believe it is easier to be profitable playing against loose players.

I better play in balanced tables, they are better and you can take better spots.

I actually prefer a loose table. More action, more chances to get paid when you’ve got a strong hand. Tight tables can get boring you end up just trading blinds half the time. At a loose table, yeah it’s a bit wild, but if you stay patient and pick your spots, you can clean up.

I haven’t really seen a table that would be almost all loose players or tight players…most tables of 9 or 10 will have a mix…that being said, I am a fairly tight player who picks his spots to be aggressive, so I would like to play against loose players who pay off my aggression.

For example, I played 2 and a half hours of live poker, playing only 3 hands beyond the flop…1) +300, 2) -180, 3)+230…I went home with a tidy profit.

I always like the table to be very dynamic, to see a lot of action from the players, big and extreme pots.

Loose tables any day. Its fun when you know the players from your table keep calling their trash hands. You just wait for you opportunity to get a premium hand and wipe them.

It varies, but there are some easy-to-recognize loose players. They are the easiest to play against.
