Its funny because ive been playing for years and ive only just started looking for my possible OUTs on the flop..I generally play high suited connectors , and honestly this slight adjustment in my mindset is a GAME CHANGER and i`ll never look back..Hopefully see you at the tables P0k3rCh41r...

I usually count on the flop, but unfortunately math doesn't always work.

Strictly speaking we want to know our equity against the opponents range, but counting outs is a first step in determining this, which we can perform in real time. But an out is not just an out. If he have:

:kc4::9c4:

on

:qh4::jh4::4s4:

then we have 4 outs to a straight and 3 outs to top pair. But sometimes hitting those outs will not give us the best hand.

:10s4:

will give us a straight, but if the opponent has

:as4::kh4:

they will have a better straight, and we are most likely going to lose a big pot.

:kc4:

will give us top pair, but if the opponent has

:as4::10d4:

they will now have a straight, or they could have

:as4::kh4:

and have us outkicked

Knowing your equity is super important not only on the flop, but also the turn. It’s important because when you are facing a bet you need to know how much this hand is costing you versus how often you will hit your hand. If you have no idea about this, it would be equivalent to going to a store to buy bread and having no idea what the bread is supposed to cost. Do you want to pay 30 bucks for bread or 5 bucks? Know the cost of your draws.
