You gotta play it for a while and few the field. Most of players are recreational and adventurous people who want to try their luck on these tables.
If you play only premium
hands you will not be profitable: you have to steal a lot from BU and SB and call less from the BB.
You have to fold absurdly strong hands when your opponents give too much action into the pot.
For example, yesterday I was playing Zoom versus an unknown player. I had AKo opened 3x and got a 3-bet from villain BU of 10x (slightly polarized sizing, 9x would do the work as fine for value or for
bluff). I decided to call and the flop comes rainbow 7A5. Good flop right? I checked and villain jammed almost 100 BB right off the bat. I insta folded.
Polarized sizing is a thing we will see a lot playing Zoom and it means that either villain has a very strong hand or it has nothing.
I folded this hand because I felt villain wasn’t messing around with AQ for example. It was AA and I would’ve called just for deception.
Another hand, I called a 3-bet OOP having KK and the flop comes A2K. Perfect flop, I checked and villain jammed. I couldn’t fold here but I knew it was AA. I called because I had a backdoor flush: villain had AA in fact.
However, sometimes players go for huge pots having nothing or hands so weak that makes me laugh.
A player that I know to be a weak one made a 4-bet and I had AA and decided to jam preflop: it showed 55! 😂
