If they have free time to play, I wouldn't mind. Poker is a great hobby that allows you to develop patience and discipline.

If they had an interest in it I would definitely help them learn the game, and encourage them the way that my parents did with me. If they had an interest in any activity, vocation, or subject I would support and encourage them to pursue their interest. However, I would never try to push them into pursuing the things that I am interested in. If they asked I'd help. If they weren't I'd just be there to support and encourage them in whatever they chose. :)

Yes, I would like poker to bring good things to those who have responsibility and discipline, but I think you should start playing for money at least when you are 16 years old. I think that's a good age.

I have been playing cards since childhood. I wouldn't want my children to play poker (they don't really). I would like my children to play sports or devote their time to art.

I was born after my mother went into labour during a poker game...it's in my blood. My son was using my account to play poker at Full Tilt, and won a 360 player tournament at the age of 12. I did not have a problem with that then or now...in fact, it was my son who originally joined Cardschat. I took over at Cardschat once he discovered XBox and women in his teens. I took my son to Las Vegas when he turned 21, but we stayed off the Strip in Red Rock because gambling was not the focus. My son, who is 31 with 2 kids of his own still plays poker occasionally...learning to play at a young age did not hinder his development or socialization in any way.

I've been playing card games since I was probably 7. Now my son doesn't play cards. Will he like it? I don't know. But I think it's better for him not to play cards, but to find another hobby or activity.

I'd love for my kids to learn how to play and get good at poker. Maybe not get hooked to cash games at an early age but in the lines of playing tournaments competitively. With proper guidance I can see them improving their critical thinking and competitive drive by joining tournaments -- like with chess.

I don’t see major downsides to kids learning poker, but I don’t see big benefits either.
At a young age, what really matters is helping them understand the difference between a hobby and a potential addiction.

I think most boys eventually get interested in gambling, so it's a good idea to teach them how to approach it mathematically.
It's definitely better than letting them start without knowing anything and end up losing big.

I don't oppose it if he wants to, but I don't encourage it!

I don't have any kids because I'm a Fox. :ROFLMAO: If we are talking seriously, if I had a child, I would teach him or her how to play poker personally. Poker has made me stronger psychologically, so I'd like that to happen with my child as well.

I dont think I can be a good coach for kids, but if they have talent...who knows. On another note, will coaching or advising someone younger help your overall morale for this game?

If he is in the appropriate age , he can decide for himself . But untill 22 or 25 better it must be forbidden . Young people should dedicate their time in studying , nor playing poker

Obviously, why not?

Poker teaches us a lot of lessions and social and analytical skills. Poker also is a funny game to play with friends (or without them).

But I wouldn't recommend for them to do this for their living...

In Japan. There is a program to learn poker at school, even they have tournaments where the winners win representative prices, computers or ipad etc. (NO Money) the intention is to learn the benefits of Poker in Maths, strategy and control of decisions.

My son is not interested in poker. He works in IT and earns more in a month than I do in a year. So poker is not his thing. But if he wanted to play, I probably wouldn't mind.

As long as they start playing with play money and if they have a fun time playing it, they should do whatever they want to. :)

I would support my child if they wanted to play poker, as long as they do it responsibly and with balance.
