Yeah, there was a moment that really stuck with me. I had AK and decided to go all-in against a villain holding 55. He ended up hitting a set, and I lost the hand.

At first, I thought it was just bad luck, and maybe part of it was. But looking back, I realized I didn’t need to shove in that spot. I could’ve folded or at least played it more carefully depending on the dynamics.

That hand taught me that even strong hands like AK aren’t invincible, and that context matters more than raw strength.
Since then, I’ve been way more thoughtful about when to commit, not just looking at my cards, but thinking more about ranges and situations.

My turning point was when I really just got tired of loosing and decided to do something about it. I studied and took the study seriously. Lucky for me I’m retired so I have all the time in the world to do this. But when I dove deeper into study I realized all the stuff I was doing wrong and made changes.
Now I don’t tilt anymore, I don’t feel entitled, I don’t play with an ego, I have fun and enjoy playing live poker. I learned that no one will ever break my spirit because this is just a game. I’m a happy recreational player that has goals and a game plan.
