I prefer a tournament preferably one with a limited or no rebuy. That means the guy who cares least about money can't just keep chucking it in and hoping to get lucky. you can also pressure sensible players - all-in and lose and you're gone.

I prefer tournaments as I believe I have more of an edge. I find cash games too difficult to win in a consistent basis. I also prefer the beginning, middle and end format of a tournament, I feel that this keeps me more invested and focuses my concentration over the long term.

IMO, SnGs are by far the better way to go, I used to play in some reasonably small Tournaments with 5 or 6 tables but even they could last all night, I remember, I went to one such event with a Friend and he Battled through to the Final Table Finishing on the min Cash and basically got his money back.
I however was busted out before the 1st break, Playing Pocket Jacks, I flopped a full house with J,5,5, and my opponent had Quad 5s, but hey that's Poker, get used to it. I went onto play 2 SnGs while we waited for the Tournament to finish and I won them both so by the end of the night I was £100 up.
Cash games however require a different Strategy when playing, I do very well in a Live environment where I can see my opponents and pick up on small tells from their body Language, but not so well On-line, So I tend to stay well away from them.
Just play every SnG as if they are the Final Table in a big MTT game, and you pick up a lot of practice in playing for the Money bubble, and ultimately Heads up play, if you make the last 2 players, both very important if you want to get better at Tournament Poker.

Good Luck!

I'm only playing tournaments now, but I had to try cash games on GGPoker and opened them in a new way, although in my opinion cash is boring to play

I prefer cash games because there is no such time commitment. You can exit at any time by pressing sitout

I play what I have time for. If I can play for a long time, then I register for tournaments, if not, only cash tables.

Been doing tournaments in AC lately. Thinking about taking a break from them & going to cash games.

Do you prefer tournaments or cash games & why?
In my case, I do not have a preference . Both are equally enjoyable.

The key to playing poker in any form is good bankroll management.

Cash you can win more at a faster rate but you can also lose more at a faster rate. Gets the heart racing.

Tournaments you get more play for your money but need to progress deep into the money to make much money from your play.

When I started, I played cash games, I didn't like tournaments. But I just lost money almost all the time. It was only when I started playing tournaments that I started to build up my bankroll. For the last few years, I've been focusing on tournaments and I don't play cash games anymore.

I’ve always been more comfortable playing tourneys. They have a built-in “stop loss”. I’m not very good at either though - lol

MTT is always better for me. I think I like a long tournament more than cash. Compete for first place.

Hi :)
I like tournaments, cash games are not for me. Tournaments bring me money and I enjoy playing. Cash games have always annoyed me and brought me mostly only disappointment.

Tournaments have more opportunities where you can catch people not paying attention or playing too aggressively or passively. People are often very cautious on the bubble, allowing you to pick up some easy money. Conversely, players can become very aggressive at the late registration cutoff. Occasionally, you might get seated at a new table with fewer players for a while, and some people don't adjust their play accordingly and continue playing as if it's a full table. There are many small spots where you can find an edge.

Definitely a tournament, you risk less and win more. Cash games can quickly deplete your budget.
