I don't have a Lucky charm as such, but being in a few Large Tournaments in a Casino environment, I have over the years bought and Won card markers for when I play, sometimes I buy them as I forgot to take one along, But I always use them. I feel it is advantageous to look at my cards once then cover with a guard until it is my turn to act, and never touch them again until I fold or showdown on the River. It's not hard to remember 2 cards in the hole, and players who are constantly looking at the same two cards show signs of insecurity, and also could show the cards inadvertently to other players, while they check their hand. My philosophy is they are not going to change and if you keep looking at them they won't disappear, So why give your opponents extra information by constantly checking what you hold? It is usually a sign of weakness. On some occasions I have played my hand blind and dropped the guard onto my hand without looking at them, simply to baffle my opponents and many who have noticed this move have had to ask if I had looked at my hand, when I answer no, they usually follow the flop with a continuation bet, which is customary, and depending on the size I will continue to play and call their bet, When the Turn comes I will continue to give them the lead and only check my cards on the turn bet coming from them. I then have two choices either to fold, any rubbish or bluff at them with a raise. But the beauty comes when they suspect I am bluffing and re-raise me while I am holding the "Nuts" and sometimes I do have the best hand. I will admit I only do this when I have a significant lead over my opponent, as I believe in playing the Player, and not the 2 cards I have in the hole.
