Do you think it is still possible to get through the game in the long term without going to a full GTO?

Micros are soft, I hardly doubt that it will take too much skill to beat the rake there.

Also GTO by itself does not earn money (unless you are playing MTT where you gain when people disregard ICM), exploits do (to understand which you still need to know GTO, but nevertheless). GTO is just an equilibrium that can't be exploited.

I believe that GTO is another tool to help poker players make decisions, but relying solely on it without considering the context and other variables may not be as safe as one might think. The human mind is always a variable that cannot be disregarded in order to know what the other player is really thinking when it comes to continuing or folding the hand.

Of course, every day more people get in to poker, so that make poker profitable.

For some people, poker will certainly be profitable, but the percentage of such players is very small. It all depends on you, on your goals and willingness to work towards them. Poker has been profitable for me for the last 2-3 years. And although my earnings do not go beyond $100-$150 per month, it is still an additional income for me.

I don't think there will be any change in poker, but there will be winners and losers.

Yes, poker is still profitable in 2025. You just need to play smart, study, and stay disciplined. Many players still make big mistakes.

I think so. Many people make a living from this, so of course.

In the long run, playing without at least some GTO knowledge is a losing strategy — but hey, even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while.

LIVE Poker is still very profitable if you can find the right game. The problem is getting into good games if you don't live close to several casinos or have connections to private games.

Online is almost dead above 100NL, so it's hard to make big money. You also have the problem with bots, RTA, and collusion.

Around $1,000 USD is still possible to grind out if you have some talent and play a lot of tables and several sites. But you have to treat it like a job, so it is easier to make more money in other ways.

Some pros are still online, but they often sit and wait for the fish or play "high-stakes" MTTs, which have enormous variance unless you are part of a stable.

I consider online poker almost dead unless you play for fun and/or some extra pocket money.

If you have to go full GTO, it is almost certainly not good, since it means you can't find a way to exploit your opponents' mistakes to the max.

GTO is good to know, but it is mostly a way to defend yourself against other GTO players/pros. Against fish, you don't use it, of course. And without fish, no big money in poker.

...I don't use GTO... I just read my opponents according to their plays and/or revealed cards to make a specific strategy for each one at the table...this helps me to play online and live at the same level and not be stuck needing software to make decisions...poker is profitable when technique and skill are constantly developed!!!

Yes, it is absolutely still possible to succeed long-term in MTTs without playing a fully GTO (Game Theory Optimal) strategy, especially if you're playing in soft fields (low- to mid-stakes online or live).

I'm trying to take poker more seriously this year. Any advice for staying disciplined?

No, without going full at GTO it’s not possible, you’ll win some money ocasionally and that’s it.

I think it all depends on what you consider to be profit. For me, the $100 I win on average per month is profit. But for someone else, that might be too small an amount.

its a very broad question.

what games do you have access to? just exclusively online?
