I always loved cards and my mother had taught me cribbage and gin rummy when I was six or seven. Westerns were big on television back in those days, and saloon scenes more often than not would have some people playing poker. When I asked my parents if they could teach me to play they did! The Lawrence Welk Show ended and
Gunsmoke began.

If I had a friend sleeping over they were dealt in as well. Those nice memories have been with me at every table I've played since that time.
