When I speak of addiction, I mean players who play poker not occasionally, recreationally, for fun, but players who dedicate several hours a day to poker and take it seriously. Not for the last month, six months, or a year, but at least for several years. I've been playing for over 20 years, and I have to honestly admit that, in a sense, I'm addicted to the game. Fortunately, it's a fully controlled addiction. Routine works. I know how long to play, the stakes, and how much I can win or lose. If I suddenly had to stop playing poker, I'd probably have to accept it, but I think it would be very difficult. After all, I've been involved with poker longer than I have with my wife.
