Slot machines usually advertise an RTP (Return to Player), for example 96%. This means that over millions of spins, the game is designed to return 96% of all wagers and keep 4% as the house edge.

But here’s the catch — RTP is calculated in the long run, often over billions of spins. For an individual player in a single session, results can be drastically different. That’s why you can hit a huge win, lose your bankroll quickly, or play for hours without ever seeing the “average return” come true.

Some players see RTP as a useful guide when choosing slots, while others believe it’s just a marketing tool since real outcomes feel nothing like those numbers.

Do you trust slot RTP when picking games? Have you ever noticed a difference when playing higher vs. lower RTP slots? Or do you think it makes no practical difference for us as players?

Even though I don't play Slots, I don't think choosing a high or low RTP makes any difference. Yes, a machine could eventually make some player happy or even rich, very rarely in case of a Jackpot win, but in general, most of the time, it takes people\s money.

I trust RTP the same way I trust my horoscope – fun to read, but never pays my bills. :)

It's just marketing. I don't trust casinos; they'll always take more in the long run.

There is usually a gaming commission regulating casino games, it would destroy a casino if they were not allowed to have slots.

Some may cheat, but I dont think its worth the risk.

Online is a different story who knows what goes on. The "highest" RTPs just happen to be online also.

I guess it's a marketing ploy.

For amateur players, who probably make up 99% of all players, I don't think this indicator is of fundamental importance. Perhaps for professional players, this indicator can be a certain guideline, although in any case, luck will play a greater role in determining the outcome.

Its the slot manufacturer that setsthe RTP, in some cases it can be adjustable like you could get an option to set it to 94, 96, or 98.

In places like Vegas the Nevada Gaming Commission tests and verifies the machines, so the last thing the casino wants is to get caught cheating.

Working in the casino, they definitely set them up a certain way, but you have no idea if they change them or when they change them. Maybe one machine is set up that way, and all the others are worse payouts. No matter which way it goes, the house has the advantage for sure.
