Basically the key to stud is keep an eye on the cards that have already been shown.

There is no point trying to go for a flush if you have seen 5 others of the same suit already gone before you. Likewise be aware of someone trying to bluff at a flush if there have also been a lot of that suit shown elsewhere. It may be worth a value call in case they were bluffing (assuming you have a hand that can beat a bluff)

Same thing applies to getting straights, if the cards you need have been shown elsewhere your not likely to get hold of them.

High pairs are normally good, moreso if both of them are hidden at the start. So by the same premise started off with a rolled up set (3 of a kind from your first 3 cards) is also a well concealed hand.

Watch out for people showing 2 pair, they could well have a full house and again keep your eye out for straghts and flushes.

So watch the face up cards and try and work out what hands people have and make them pay if they are drawing.
