A play made by so many rookie players I have seen of late is minimum reraising into a player, especially when the blinds are low. For example, If a player raises only 2 x BB of 20, making ot 40, then a player in a mid or late position make a minimum raise of 40, making it 80 to go. IMO this is an incredibly stupid play for a number of reasons 1. If you have 4 or 5 limpers already in the pot and you have a nice high PP, a minimum raise here is crazy. Even rookie players can work out the pot odds these days and you will most likely find your PP in a lot of trouble. Even if you bet out big here you could easily hand run into two low pair, a flush or straight draw. And even if they do fold, you have to risk a big chunk of your stack for a pot full of limpers (not much) 2. You could very easily come into a huge reraise and if you are holding a medium or low PP, will find yourself having to lay down a half decent hand without seeing the flop. Ask yourself how a minimum raise is help you in the pot? Sure its ok 2 or 3 handed, as the less players involved, the more chance your hand will hold up. A minimum raise can be very affective in an early postion as some players will feel your minimum raise is a sign of weakness and raise into you, giving you the opportunity to push all your chips into the pot Even with a low PP I am either limping into the pot or making a nice raise. Dont show a sign or weakness by minimum raising, it shows other players that you can be weak and it can be easier to read you.
