Assuming you want to "dip your toe" in before diving in completely, i presumed you'll want to start at the cheaper levels. You'll see plenty of "WTF" rivers, and you'll be astonished at what hands players will play, but you'll get a feel for the sites and how they work. I suppose the 3 cheap options are;

Freerolls - wild and loose (at least early on). Just sit and watch first 10 hands or so, and watch the loonies push all-in trying to get that early lead. Then just pick your way through remaining field.

Low level ring games - don't bluff - players just will not give up hands, will not "put you on a hand" and will not take any notice of "scare" cards. I wouldn't bother with mega-low limits (and definatley dont waste your time at "play-money" tables!! - start at $0.5 / 1.

Sit n go - probably best place in my opinion, as they're cheap, and you can at least get some sort of feel for level of competition. Again, take your time whilst half the field busts out early.

Just one final thing, when deciding site, dont be lured in by bonus offers - they're much harder to clear than they seem - my suggestion for first site would be pokertime - only downloaded it myself last week, but you get $10 free, so what better way to start!!! Good luck!
