I think, we need to move to level 3 thinking here and consider, what he think, you have after 3-betting pre, checking flop, delay C-betting turn, and now betting the river, when the A hits. For him this probably look like, you have AX, and usually a good AX like AK or AQ. So the question is, does he feel, that its a great idea to bluffraise and try to make you fold a strong top pair, that you just made? Or is he thrilled, you improved, because now he can get paid?
