I find that about 50% of the time when I post my blind as soon as I sit down I can get stacked off if I can hit my hand (or at least win a few $$ if nothing else) on the first hand because people first think you are a donk to not wait for the BB to come around and you have no read on them so they try to bully you out of the hand.  
In this case, there was nothing to fold pre-flop, I checked.  On the flop, it didn't look like much of a bet if he had an A, so I called, same as the turn.  The river to me looked like he slow played the whole thing and I was quite worried about 55 since he had limped PF.  I really can't be too scard though of only two hands that were going to beat me so I had to call, but it took a while since I wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything obvious. ;)  Worst case I figure I was going to split the pot at this moment and since I had put more in than I was going to lose on the rake, I had to call.  Watching him turn over the J was frightening as I really assumed A + X, so I didn't focus on the 2 - who pushes with J2 here????
