It wasn't a great starting hand, with weak low potential and only one suit - so the pre-flop raise was very aggressive, although you did have position on the original raiser. On the flop I'm sure you should have been worried about trips, 2 pair, A2 low draws, a 3456 straight draw, and a diamond flush draw, so the single pair was in terrible shape. Ruling out the trips, because that would probably have been bet, 2 pair or draws would still have been a concern. Against most hands that would play against you, he would have probably been favourite to win. On the turn you hit a flush draw and a straight draw, but still any 4,5,7 or 8 would have quite possibly given the low away (again, not in this case, but often), a spade would have made him a flush, but only King-high, so possibly giving him a No. 1 sucker hand if someone else had the Ace (expecting Respect to probably have an Ace at this point, so there's a 50% chance that it's in Spades), and the single pair looks decidedly vulnerable. With the pot size, even if they're expecting to get the nut low half about half of the time, they could call for the pot odds. Against a complete idiot who'll play most hands, and stay in with nothing, then it's a strong play. Against a decent player, it would be suicide, because any sensible player would only call that turn bet all-in with much better than they had. From what you've said you've got the kind of read you need on that player to make this kind of play (I know I'd be scared to make it without a damn good read... if they'll raise with anything at all, then I guess that would tell you enough to play, though). Nice win, though - the aggressive strategy clearly paid off by isolating the idiot, and scaring off other hands which could have beaten you, and in this case your hand dominated his (except for the low potential). I'll bow to your experience on this - it demonstrates the value of good reads and isolation, over particularly good starting cards. Villain's play was just moronic. He was chasing 2nd best low, with just middle pair for high, and no straight or flush draws. I have no idea what gave him any cause to call on the flop, and then on the river even his low was looking less likely, with no improvement for high, so his post-flop play was just mind-numbingly stupid. What site was this on, I think I want to add Respect to my list of people to keep an eye out for...
