I am not against the min raise the way so many around here are.  It is a tool that many many many many people misuse, or are too lazy to make the bet 3x or more cause it is so convenient to click the raise button.

Preflop I generally agree the  minraise sucks, that is the main place folks misuse it.  Post flop there are neat places where the minraise will lure in the fish where a standard raise will be like throwing rocks in the pond right where you want to cast.

The end result in this case suggests you played this hand right.  You got all your money in, and got all his money in as well.  before he hit his boat, I think its possible a standard raise might have given him enough pause to maybe fold.  Maybe not, but your minraise sucked him in.

Truly, most everyone around here hates the whole notion of the minraise.  Luckily before I showed up here I had learned the evils of the minraise and so the arguments they made and still make about the dreaded minraise made, and still do make sense.  I just think that there are those places where the minraise has so much power that one should not dismiss it so cavalierly.

Separate issue, is the $200 at the 5/10 game too little, too much, what?  Maybe he had been sitting there a while and his starting stack had changed.  This is an area of poker I know next to nothing about.  Please enlighten .......
