Its just a question of, how you think, his range is made up, and what will work best against different parts of that range. If he has a lot of very strong hands like worse flushes, sets and two pair, then raising is great. But if he has a lot of bluffs and/or medium strength hands like TX, that are still betting, then raising will just get him to fold and take away your chance to win more money on the river.

So my line suggestion here is very much based on the information, you gave about him, that you think, he is donking a lot of top pair hands. If you told me, that this player was a nit, and that he almost never donks, then I would assume, he had something very strong like a set or a worse flush, and I would be totally onboard with raising and going after his full stack.
