I’ve been working on my short-stack strategy lately. Do you think push/fold charts are reliable enough, or should you always adjust based on the table dynamic?

If the chart says shove your sb with any 2, but you think the villan will fold to a min raise- then min raise is correct.

Exploit when you can, GTO/Nash when you cant.

It's always based on your opponents, the more you fold the wider your range will be, and the more resistant they are you should fold more.

I think both are the right answer, those charts are reliable and we always adjust to our opponents.

The charts are reliable, but watchout for the table dynamic also, especially the types of players yet to act after your shove.

This man (my son Ronald) truly has one of the best short games I’ve ever witnessed <3 If he speaks, it’s worth listening. And Jaymfc too <3 that guy has endless wisdom.

I’ve always loved the short game myself <3 there’s such beauty in a comeback. Being short isn’t something to fear—it’s a chance to grow, to stack up, and to surprise yourself. <3 The key is keeping your mind steady, not worried. With the right mindset, every hand is still full of possibility. <3 ( I have never used a chart <3)

I personally do not think it takes an expert or charts to know what cards to jam all in short stacked - one of the things i look for is value, i dont mind being multi called when SS - in fact, i love it - it is however also situational with regards to the type of game you are playing (our league is a perfect different example as players will fold hands to make FT or ladder up when SS).
Charts have their value but its a personal thing i guess - we all have our own style.

Do you think push/fold charts are reliable enough
Most of the time. Unless you are playing at a very weak table where you can create 30-ways pot by limping with pocket pairs or suited aces, while not having enough fold equity as your 6BB jams will get called by half of the table.

Jonathan Little's App has an in-built function to widen or shorten preflop ranges based on adjustments. If you think the table overfolds (most probably do), you can just make them 10% wider and then stick to the new charts.

Another consideration is that you don't want barely + EV spots if they mean you don't get to play later. If I'm playing a live tournament, I'm not jamming a 12 BB stack almost ever if others are similarly short-stacked. Might be +ChipEV but I know I can play much more +ChipEV by minraising.
