You can pick up your chips and leave but not in a tourn. Cash games are better for most people. The only ones that tourns are better for are people that can consistently do well in tourns someone like Maurice Hawkins who dominates the WSOP circuit but not the wsop series in vegas. He said it best, "why am I going to try to win a few thousand in a cash game over a few days when I can win 10 times that for 1st place in the same amount of time", which is true but there are very few folks that can do this.
