Why Do Bovada and BetOnline Calculate Parlay Payouts Differently?

Been betting parlays for years now, and something that still throws me off is how Bovada and BetOnline calculate their parlay payouts differently — even when you plug in the same odds.

Let’s say I build a 3-leg parlay with -110 odds across the board:

On Bovada, the payout might come out noticeably lower than what I see on BetOnline.

In some cases, BetOnline pays 15–20% more on the same parlay.

The catch?

Bovada seems to round odds or use slightly different conversion logic (especially for decimal to American formats).

BetOnline uses standard multiplier math, more in line with what independent calculators show.

This gets even more confusing when mixing +odds and -odds in the same ticket.

I’ve tested this by using third-party parlay calculators — and the results usually match BetOnline more closely.

Anyone else noticed this?
Is this just a margin/house edge tactic, or are they using different formulas altogether? Would love to hear others’ experiences and whether it’s ever impacted a payout or bet decision.
