And regarding that type of bias people are asking why PGMOL and the FA are not even aware enough to note ( or did not care?) that this should have been seen as a conflict of interest - Jared Gillet refereeing a match which confirmed who would lead the table when he is an ardent fan of one of those teams- and directed another referee take charge of the game. Second point. When Havertz scored the equalizer, photos have now confirmed that Jarred Gillet had no clear line of sight to the action because other players blocked his view to Havertz/Cash on the goal line. Gillet, for what ever reason blew for a foul - back to the bias. That then gave him the option to rule the goal out and in these circumstances VAR has not been over ruling the on pitch decision. So, conversely, if Gillet had not blown his whistle, Var would not have pushed to cancel the goal. Gillet whistled hoping he could find a reason to disallow the goal. At this point I personally don't care what kind of bias was in play, but in play it was. That said, if Arsenal had taken their chances in a game where they outplayed Villa, they could have drawn if not gone on to win.
