Yes I agree with that. Not all recreational players are completely clueless. And the player in my example, who dont play tournaments every day but want to play the best (Sunday Million), when they finally do, is probably a fairly decent player on average. In a sense you fit the definition also, since you dont often play on Pokerstars but sometimes try to satellite into Sunday Million. "For profit" players AKA regulars play lots of tournaments every day, so they dont care much about any particular one, of if it is a $400k or $1M guaranty this week. They just play, whatever is available, and maybe they are also on vacation themselfes right now, because there is less money to be made in online poker is general during the summer, and if they have family etc. This I still do not agree with. If I see the same people in my games all the time, especially SnGs and cash games, then to me they are regulars and not recreational, and it really does not matter, if poker is their main source of income or not. It might be but I have no way of knowing this. Maybe a pension is their main source of income, and this is why, they have time to play so much. What matter is, that they are someone, who play a lot, and they have likely also studied the game to at least some extend. If my opponent has stats of VPIP 22 / PFR 18 with a 9% 3-bet over 9k hands, then I consider them to be a regular, and I give them the label, I use for LAGs (Loose and Aggressive). If they have stats of VPIP 28 / PFR 8 over 300 hands, then I consider them to be a recreational player, and I give them the label, I use for SLPs (Semi-Loose Passive). If they play VPIP 58 / PFR 8 or VPIP 48 / PFR 22 they get the fish label. The fish and SLPs are someone, I expect, I can make money against for instance by raising their limps and allowing them to call and then make significant mistakes postflop. Whereas the regular is someone with likely more experience and perhaps also theoretical knowledge than me, and my focus is mainly to not make significant mistakes myself against this player. Maybe I 3-bet them light, if their fold to 3-bet is normal to high, but postflop I play more of a pot-control game against them compared to a SLP or fish.
