It has been a long two-plus years for the world as we deal with the economic ups and downs (among other things) due to the pandemic. Las Vegas is no different than any other city in the world as they had suffered financial losses and now hope to rebound with the wsop giving it a kick-start.

Check out the attached link, which includes poll results as to how the WSOP might affect the financial status of Las Vegas as a whole.

Hopefully, the COVID numbers don't start affecting the number of entrants. By all indicators, the move to the strip has been well received and is boosting attendance.

COVID has drastically put a risk on live poker. We can only hope that someday the virus will be under control, and people can get on witht their lives.

First let me preface by saying that I love Vegas, but haven't been there since Covid hit. I also think the WSOP is very important for Poker. Live poker and especially televised live poker is great for the health of poker in general. It's more prestigious and while we all like to win money, the prestige and the notoriety that people can receive from the WSOP and other big events draws people into playing those tournaments, which in turn is good for the game.

That having been said, I am not going to cry any tears for the big casinos or Nevada. These are the very people who have railed against online poker for years due to feeling it would hurt their own interests. And that also affects all of us, but in a negative manner.

I will be interesting to see how well this years WSOP does. I personally fly out this weekend to play but will admit there was alot of concern since Covid has spiked latly. WHile I was going to go anyways i do wonder is it could have some affect if there is a outbreak at the WSOP. Luck for me, well not really lucky a little ove 2 weeks ago I caught covid. While I am better the positive is I cant get sick again for the next few months so there is no need to worry about bringing it home to my kids.

Based on not only how may players were streaming through Ballys/Paris the past week I've been here but also the number of tourists in addition to that, Vegas is doing just fine.
