Maybe there will be a requirement to prove you are human before you can play but that might be hard to do to because the ai agent will be good at pretending to be human
As long as AI still struggling to create images of humans with 5 fingers I wouldn't worry about it ^^

You should go and try chatting about poker with ChatGPT. You may be surprised about what it can come up with. Try having it analyze a hand that you played, or even a whole hand history file worth of hands.

Yes that is true but when it comes to proving you're human , AI isn't that good in it hence my example :)

Being able to consult AI for pokerstats won't ruin the game . Solvers and HUD do the same

What do sites need to prove that you are human at any given point? Once registered, you are usually free to play as you like.

I'm going to have to read this topic again because I feel like I am missing something here.

No there isn't any proof check, was just answering Rachelle who wrote about there may be such a requirement in future :)

Yes! I've wondered about that. You'd think something called AI would have at least a very basic understanding of human anatomy. Even a toddler knows how many fingers he's supposed to have.

HUD, SOlvers, Bots, AI agents... You can fight it by just going to a local casino.

I like to play with bots, they are quite predictable
I fully agree bots are so easy to play against especially i on a table of 6 and it is you and 5 bots. Easy chips

I agree with the opinion about artificial intelligence. Programmers using it will not even need to learn the game. They can become invincible with the level of knowledge. We can't be sure who our opponents are at the table. Regular players will think with their own heads and at some point they may make a mistake. The group of programmers will act according to the technologies of the future.

"I wouldn't be so optimistic—playing against bots isn't as easy money as it may seem. Yes, they are straightforward and don't use bluffing, but you won't be able to bluff against a bot either. While waiting for a good hand, you won't always get action because the bot might just fold. I regularly play against bots on a training site, and believe me, the enjoyment isn't the same as playing against a person. The satisfaction of outlasting a bot or finishing a session in profit is just a fraction of the pleasure of playing poker, which is loved precisely for the opposite."

From Chamath Palihapitiya:

"Curious about AI’s impact on society? Look at online poker as an interesting, early window into the future. Why? Online poker is a multi billion dollar economy and will be worth exactly $0 over the next few years. The fall of this economy will be a harbinger of what’s possible as generalized AI advances are applied to the “low hanging fruit” markets. Agents are becoming smart enough - reasoning, memory, chain of thought - that poker playing agents will run over the human population in legal poker sites and will make money for their creators. But won’t these bots be stopped? These aren’t bots. They are agents - and will know how to lose certain hands, creating an illusion of normalcy. They will learn to “shear the sheep” vs “skin the sheep”. You can expect that online poker leaderboards will flip to names you’ve never heard of and those names won’t be real people but groups of programmers making money. I suspect that most people stop playing online for money pretty quickly and the economic value of this market implodes."

Have you seen any "AI players" on any of the big poker sites?

All the bots were one of the reasons I stopped playing semi-professionally online in 2014.

It's more a semantic question what you call them. But bots and RTA have been a thing online for at least 15 years.

With all the fast development in AI, you can just imagine how difficult it will be to know you are just playing against a human.

There is a reason people don't play chess or GO online with money at stake, for example.

I have the impression of playing against an AI, on some platforms it is more open than on others. pokerstars is a great example of losing with AA or KK and winning with 92 or 73.

Facial recognition should be performed, as is the case on some betting platforms.

That’s a really interesting take. I can definitely see how AI could completely change online poker — not just the gameplay, but the whole economy around it. If agents get good enough to mimic human behavior and consistently make profits, it could drive most casual players away. Makes you wonder how many other industries might face a similar shift once AI reaches that level
