I know, every poker type is welcome and there are a lot of personalities. But I had a strange incident last week. While playing playmoney games, a dude was freaking out because of a bad beat at the river. It's okay to be angry imo, but he was just over it, discriminating certain ethnicities, sexual orientation and sending death threats. All because of a playmoney game.

Have you ever witnessed something like that before?

It doesn't happen too often, but it does happen. If it was on Replay Poker you can report the player by going to their profile page (click on the square pic in the Notes box). Near the top/right of the page that appears you will see:

Screenshot 2025 08 04 at 120130PM

Click on Report Player and you will see:

Most poker sites has some mechanism to report abusive players.

It's completely "normal" in online gaming, not just poker. Best is to just focus on the game and dont chat at all. I have Chat off everywhere i play and other stuff like throwables disabled if possible.

I had xenophobic comments, it sucks, the best way is to ignore them with theirs insignificance.

Normally get it when you trap someone, they think they should always win. Just turn off the chat.

I see it every day.

If it gets distracting I just block their chat.

Well I guess, this is why, more and more online poker sites completely remove the option to chat. But yes this has always been something, that happens from time to time, when chat is possible. And in my experience the lower the stakes, the more commonly you will experience it. As others have said its best to either ignore it or just laugh at it. If the site has throwables (like pokerstars) I sometimes send a pack of tissues to people, who freak out in the chat :)

Unfortunately, it's happened to me before, but that's in the past. Now, I just ignore it when it happens.
Thankfully, it's been a while.

Not really any reason to have chat turned on. So I haven't had chat turned on in 15+ years now unless it's the final table of an MTT. Even at final table there's no need for chat unless one wants to discuss a deal.

Cheers!!!

I had a similar experience, i was in an online game and there was a player that went all in in every hand, like 12-15 hands
I wait until I had a good hand KKs, and obviously just called so he can go all in, he did, with 95... I took about 90-95% of his chips leaving him for elimination a few hands after.
He didnt stop blaming and insulting. I just laughed.

there will always be players that think they can play lottery and deserve to win everytime

.....I've seen far worse... poker does not always attract the most emotionally healthy people,

it's also a frustrating game, ... newer players that you find in freerolls tend to get more frustrated...

and some people are just jerks on or off the poker table, take their chips with a smile😎👍

poker can be frustrating for a number of reasons and you're probably going to see those types of ppl that don't understand that awful players are going to win even when you do everything correctly in the short term.

Its just the nature of the game and is what keeps the bad players coming back.

i just played a micro low buyin rebuy tourn and had ppl shoving and shoving with at best questionable hands at the last level and Im there trying to make it just to the end of the level taking the counter down to 1, lol, to get past the rebuy period so when these "players" lol go all in with ace little or some crazy hand they'll be booted from the tourn..

there is a player that has rebought like 5-6 times in the last 10mins lol and they're shoving with low pairs from early, t7s lol, j3 all in preflop lol,

i mean the worst hands and I haven't played a hand in like 15min lol and i finally jam and they call with baby suited connectors and of course they hit a less than 1% of happening 3 card flush on the flop lol I mean. . . lolol.

I can see how someone wouldn't be happy about that lol and if they could type something nasty would but . . .it happens and a lot of us just move on.

but i can see someone not being happy.

And typing something "nasty" to them reflects poorly on you, shows tilt issues and shows your lack of knowledge about the nature of the game.

I've done it live and online but nowhere near the point as some of the posters are talking about in the past so i'll not be a hypocrite but it'll scare the bad players away so if you're actually serious about winning off the bad players then you shouldn't do it.

And like I typed, it shows how little they understand the game they're playing and other concerns.

best to ignore it.

ill give them a pass because i know they're beginners or something but if I run into them frequently doing that stuff or its excessive one time then I'll type something like "please put the keyboard away" or something, lol or turn off the chat or go do something else since they're not worth my time.

Back in the days when there was chat, people occasionally freaked out via chat. My favourite was cracking someone's Aces near the bubble of a satellite with 8Ts and getting called a stupid monkey. Made it worth it even more.

We've all been there - my first year on PokerStars was full of tilt and table rage too. But once you truly learn poker's nature, bad beats stop bothering you. This screams 'newbie behavior' to me

I kind of disagree with that. I want to contribute to create a welcoming environment, so if someone sits down at my table and start by saying "hi everyone" or something similar, then I will reply "hi", so that he dont think, he is playing only with robots. If someone congratulate me by saying "nice hand", I will reply "thank you" and so on.

As for people going off in the chat, its free information, since it basically tells you, they are on tilt. So I dont want to miss out of that either. I just laugh at it and then make the adjustments, I think makes sense against someone, who is on tilt. Which mean hero calling them more but not bluffing them, since tilted players usually want to win pots at all cost.

The only thing that really bothers me is these clowns who raise, raise, raise with any garbage. It's surprising how often they get away with it, especially in bounty tournaments where they might bust out several players before mathematics catches up with them.

Online isn't like live no one chats anymore or expects chat. Live I'll chat up a storm and be social it's good for the game live. Not missing anything online with chat turned off. And to those who tilt easy and don't have a strong mental game(the majority of players) chat can only hurt them.

One doesn't need chat turned on to know and see who's on tilt just have to pay attention to the action it's why I only double table. I can fit 2 tables on my screen and see both perfectly at the same time. And anyone playing more then 2 tables isn't paying attention to chat anyways they have no time for that.

Chat back in the day online use to good and just like live poker you could decent and sometimes even great discussions being had by online players. But then that went away same as the games being baby sh*t soft went away.

Too each their own and whatever works for you.

Cheers!!!

It happened to me yesterday, at Coinpoker. I simply took a screenshot and sent to support. They already replied me saying that they will take proper actions against the player.

Yes, I've seen many similar players in PokerStars who used to threaten me in chat when I beat them. I even wrote to the support service asking them to ban the player (who was insulting me in chat). I think there are many such players. But I haven't seen any players with inappropriate behavior in our Community, which I am very happy about.

Of course you should report him and he will be blocked. Otherwise you should stay calm and either not respond to him at all or just smile, of course this will only annoy him.
