When reviewing hands, some players prefer doing it alone with software, others discuss hands with friends or online communities.

Which method do you find most effective and why?

How do you structure your hand reviews to maximize learning?

Do you use notes or tracking software, or rely mainly on memory and discussion?

I write my hands down and review them with my coach. It's a super important part of improving; you're not gonna catch everything by yourself. Submitting hands online is an okay replacement -- and it's free -- so tbh people who don't have a coach should do it way more.

You really don't need any specialized software, but you do need to write them down (if you play live anyway; online they're all tracked for you). There's almost no way your memory will be good enough without it; there are so many details to every hand that can matter.

I would love to review hands with friends but because all of them are not interested in that, I have to do it by myself and read here about hands.

You know you can submit your hands here? I comment on every hand someone posts in this forum if it's in the proper subforum and is properly formatted and includes all relevant information. (Surprisingly often people don't meet those criteria but it's not that difficult.)
