Poker is one game, but it comes in two very different formats: Live Poker, played in casinos or poker clubs, and online poker, played on websites and Apps.

Here are some key discussion points:

What are the fundamental differences between playing live and online?

Does the speed of online play affect your decision-making?

Is bluffing more effective in person or online?

Can you really “read” opponents through a screen?

And what about bankroll management—where is it more difficult?

Do you prefer live poker or online poker? Why?

What’s the biggest challenge you’ve faced in either format?

How has technology influenced your style of play?

Online poker is filled with hackers, scammers, cheaters ie ppl who create bots or someone using something to aid the player like tracking software while playing hands and live poker has much less of that nonsense.

Well, at least ifs a little more obvious when something isnt right while playing live I should say.

Live is better, way better but the problem is most people dont live near a casino and even if you do have access to one then it still might only have like 10 tables lol and its much harder to find variants being played today at casinos as well.

Sucks wanting to play limit holdem or stud and all they have is a bingo nl game at 1/2 or 1/3 with a bunch of folks talking gto and shoving all in preflop with qj suited, lol.

Live poker is more fun, especially if you play it with family and friends.

The biggest difference? Wardrobe…I have never played live poker at a casino in my underwear!
On a more serious note, playing live poker is more social…people chat, often about anything but poker. You also get a better read on your opponents.
I personally enjoy live poker more because I am usually on vacation when I play in a casino, so my mindset is already chill.

Live poker is definitely more attractive than online poker. In live poker, you have the chance to socialize with people whose traits you try to discover. In online poker, you don't know who you're really dealing with. It could even be a robot, in my opinion. Plus, in live poker, you see the deck of cards, while in online poker, you don't, which sometimes gives me the impression that dealing the cards is an enigma.

Honestly, I’m not even sure if I could play live poker — I don’t even know who’s supposed to act first after the flop!
Online, everything is automatic — when it’s your turn, the software highlights you, so you just play.
But I still think live poker must be more exciting and enjoyable in many ways.

I totally get you! Online poker really spoils us — no need to think about who's next, it just lights up and bam, your move 😄
But honestly, that's part of what makes live poker such a fun challenge! Once you get the basics like who acts first (hint: it's the player left of the dealer/button), everything else becomes smoother with time.
Plus, reading people’s faces, picking up on little habits… that stuff is gold. You should definitely give it a try one day — just for the experience if nothing else!

The main difference between live and online poker lies in the pace of play and the social experience. Online poker is faster, allowing you to play more hands in less time and often at multiple tables simultaneously. Live poker, on the other hand, due to the physical interaction and slower pace of the dealer and players, provides a more social experience, with a focus on reading expressions and body language.

I think live poker has a much better atmosphere and it is a lot of fun. However, you have a lot less access to games and it takes a lot more effort to be able to play.
Online is quick and easy to play but it doesn't match the vibe of live play.

Offline, you need to keep a poker face and control any emotions. This can be very difficult at first. At home, sitting in front of a computer screen, players unconsciously pronounce combinations and actions, and then transfer this habit of talking to themselves to a live game and continue to unconsciously mumble their cards under their breath. Online, you can find a place for emotions: smash the mouse against the wall after a bad beat or, without mincing words, criticize the poor play of an opponent. But this is absolutely forbidden offline. There are more bad players online and it is more convenient to play online.

I have never played live poker (no poker in casinos in Poland for now) but what I have heard:
1. Life poker is much more risky because of money involved: Micro: NL2 online you play with stack 100-200BB = 2-4$. Comparable Live 1$-2$ you play with stack 200-400 $. If you try to play comparable blinds or stacks online -> NL 100 1/2$ it is a very difficult game full of regs and sharks.
2. Of course online you play faster, you can multitable etc
3. Live poker is much easier to win - as I have heard live games 1-2$ or 1-3$ are easier than online 0,01/0,02$ - is it really true? Would be nice to hear the opinion of players who have experience in both.

I am a charismatic player who knows how to hide my emotions, so I prefer offline poker. What is the difference? I think it's obvious. There are more opportunities to analyze your opponents in offline poker. But I also love online poker, which allows me to focus on the number of big blinds in my stack and tournament strategy. :sneaky:
