What do you mean by addiction? I play poker for fun and in my free time.

I have written in other threads that I can easily stop playing poker. But now I realize that I am truly addicted. And I like it! I immerse myself in poker and forget about all my problems. It's a wonderful feeling! Every poker tournament is a separate story of my life. ;)

Of course, I can stop playing at any time. Poker is just a hobby for me, and I can go weeks without playing, then play one night and go a long time without playing again.

Nope I can easily take it or leave. 2025 so far is a perfect example as I haven't felt much like playing so I've played less then 1500 hands so far in 2025.

Cheers!!!

When I speak of addiction, I mean players who play poker not occasionally, recreationally, for fun, but players who dedicate several hours a day to poker and take it seriously. Not for the last month, six months, or a year, but at least for several years. I've been playing for over 20 years, and I have to honestly admit that, in a sense, I'm addicted to the game. Fortunately, it's a fully controlled addiction. Routine works. I know how long to play, the stakes, and how much I can win or lose. If I suddenly had to stop playing poker, I'd probably have to accept it, but I think it would be very difficult. After all, I've been involved with poker longer than I have with my wife.:)

I'm a 20+ year rec/hobby player who takes it serious enough to the point I've worked hard to be in the low % of winning players. I don't play just for fun although I do find poker fun and relaxing. In the past I've played for 8-10+ hours a day. Some years I do play less then others like 2025 for example.

I bet there's plenty of rec/hobby players that take poker serious.

Cheers!!!

I could give up poker in a minute for a million dollars. But unfortunately, no one will make me such an offer.
