Its nowhere near what was going on during the boom and never will be the same because of Black Friday and other countries have also put more restrictions on poker. You would need all thise walls to come back down and setup some type of watch group then allow people from all over the world to play together, again. Poker isn't as accessible to folks like during the boom. It was everywhere, Espn was broadcasting that stuff rentlessly then you had other networks with those realities shows. And if you didnt own a TV (lol) you could watch crazy nose bleed (not pro level games but) elite games especially on Full Tilt every evening where players were literally playing hands for the price of a house in the US every few hands. So poker was everywhere, now it seems like you have to look for it. I'm not a fan of using WSOP numbers but if Black Friday never happened or reversed and poker was promoted like during the boom then I wouldnt be surprised all of those numbers doubled. And live, I used play at one of the biggest poker rooms in the US. I used to play marathon sessions in my casino friday - sunday evening. I could start at friday afternoon go all night into Saturday morning with the casino folks cleaning up the floor with the vacuums going on the floor etc. Go get some sleep when the sun is coming up or grind with the old folks coming in to grind low limit stud or stud 8 as I waited for the kids with the sunglasses to come in around 12 noon. Then do the same saturday into sunday! I really don't play anymore but when I look at poker rooms hours across the US online and see they don't go 24 hours during the weekends, the demand isn't there well at least in the US from what I see. The old folks are gone and so are the low limit variants. You can get a limit holdem game but not stud or stud 8. But I'm so happy that more folks are experiencing poker growing in their countries today. Its just not the same for a lot of folks. It peaked over 10 years ago lol.
