It's nice to win money but I took great satisfaction from being right the times I was, and it was an ego thing more than anything. I'd feel clever for predicting things correctly.

Making predictions with no money at all riding on it wouldn't be quite as much as fun so the gambling aspect of it was part of it, but only ever small stakes. I could get 12 hours entertainment from football for half the cost of a ticket to a game even if all my bets lost.

These days it's just poker for me.

I never really found casino games attractive as they are negative EV.
