I got the idea for this thread from playing the other day when a player was chatting about another player at the table who "hit-and-ran" at another table when he doubled-up from the complaining player.

And of course - I had to open my big mouth and ask "without defending the villain" how long should he stay at the table after doubling up?

The complaining player seemed surprised and answered "I don't know, maybe another couple of orbits."

So there seems to be some consensus about two orbits so that it doesn't appear as though one is just taking the money and running away.

Personally it has happened that I lose an all-in and after rebuying and playing for an hour - I have doubled up just to win my money back.

Perhaps my eyes are a little tired - perhaps something needs to be attended to in the real world - and I want to leave the table...and I do.

This is interesting and I would like to test this theory.

Not for Americans.   Maybe six real money poker rooms?  And some have few players.

This is true.

Many non-poker players don't understand this because they only see poker on tv when it is a big tournament.  And they don't understand (or care) about the differences between tournaments and cash games.
