Preflop Like the 3-bet and the sizing as well. Flop Like the C-bet and the sizing also seem ok here. Turn This is the interesting point in the hand, and while I do think, it can be ok to mix in a check with the nuts from time to time, I think, you mainly want to be betting for value. Monotone boards are rather specialised, because its so easy to have the nuts, and therefore removal becomes very important. When you have the nuts, he cant have it, and therefore he is more likely to not put money in the pot. However checking does not really change that. Its really difficult to find bluffs on monotone boards, because you cant really have a draw other than to a full house, and if you are drawing to a full house, you already have a set or two pair, which mean, you have some showdown value. So per definition any bluff on a board like this is pretty much an airball, and therefore I dont think, checking induce a ton of bluffs. If he has a hand like TT with no spade, he is probably going to fold, when you bet. But if you check, he is not turning it into a bluff. He is done with the hand, so he will check back, and if you bet the river, he will still fold. So I think, him folding is something, you just need to accept. And by checking you allow him to check back with those hands, that can actually pay you. Like a second best flush or even worse a set, that might draw out on you. As played things get rather awkward, when he bet small. Because now you can either just call and check to him on the river, and then you basically let him off the hook. Or you can check-raise or lead river, which almost looks stronger than continuing to bet. But as played I would go for a check-raise here and then jam the river even on cards that pair the board. River Now the board paired, which makes an awkward situation even more awkward for you. If you lead or check-raise now, you are kind of saying, you have a full house, so you would almost be overrepresenting your hand. And there is of course also a small risk, you are now beat. So as played I would also check-call and get myself to showdown. Conclusion You definitely let his exact hand get away very cheap here, and I also dont think, your turn line created most value against his entire range. Either simply continue to bet or put in a check-raise, when he takes the bait and reopen the betting for you.
